20% total acres or atleast 20 acres per section. Posted 23:07 (#1576982 - in reply to #1576784) Subject: RE: Crop insurance - individual units vs enterpriseĮnterprise is 20% or 20 acres this year. Everything works off an average anyway when calculating expense. I like the enterprise unit because in the end, everything is in the same basket. I figured it was safer going with the enterprise unit on corn. The individual unit would have been around $30 an acre. I went with the enterprise unit last year on my corn. We switched to enterprise units this year and saved about 2/3's. I've been using Enterprise for the last two years, as my land is all contiguous, but I don't remember this amount of difference before. If this is true, I'd be looking at paying around $17/ac for 75% RC. Using the 2011 crop insurance estimator tool ( ), I plugged in identical values between unit and enterprise coverage for Revenue Coverage (also used $5.95/bu corn, 0.35 voltility factor ).īoth returned the same total insurance cost, but the enterprise coverage had a subsidy of 77% of the total, while the unit was subsidized at about 35%.
